Mold remediation [exaust fan]

Wednesday, November 16, 2011

Action is needed to remedy anything. The everyday bath fan has many upsides, when the ductwork is done correctly all else will follow. Mold has proved to be unhealthful for a lot of us, but to avoid mold and mildew in our very frequently used bathrooms has never been easier. Any diy’er has the ability to execute change, and we here at My-DIY.net aim to give back a solution that is inexpensive and simple.

In the image here it shows the creative way to use ductwork in a bathroom shower exhaust fan. With the ceiling 2×4 framing disallowing a direct air flow, the 90 degree duct gets us up and out in the shortest distance without constricting or pinching the ducting. Home Depot stocks this exhaust fan elbow ducting in house and it is extremely easy to DIY or Do It Yourself, when we have all the right information to avoid mold and mildew in our families bathrooms for cleaner healthier living.

When searching through the exhaust fans available on line, it is noted here that the volume of air exchanged and the Ultra-quiet motors operate at sone level reading per noisiness factor. But most importantly, moving the wet air up and out as your hot and steamy shower continues. But, in order for a bath fan to be able to perform it’s duties it must draw air from someplace?? Be certain there is a significant gap underneath the bathroom door 3/4″ or so ,  and or crack open the bathroom window just enough to aide in the CFM also known as the cubic feet of air per minute. Good luck and DIY , Today!

Sudden Surges Can Ruin Electronics

electricalEven if you’re well-versed in the ways of DIY electrical maintenance, it’s a good idea to protect your electrical equipment from sudden power surges. A surge suppressor absorbs powerful electrical surges that come from the main line. Sensitive electric equipment and appliances like computers and other communication devices are best maintained with a surge suppressor when plugged in for use or charging. Adaptors and transformers may not have the capacity to suppress electric surges to protect your devices.

A surge suppressor can absorb 2,518 Jules of energy. A good quality surge suppressor features the protection of at least eight outlets. Outlets that are wide apart can accommodate large sockets. They also offer gold-plated coaxial cables for an excellent contacts and connections.

Outdoor Ceiling Fans

Outdoor ceiling fans are not made the same way as indoor ceiling fans, because being outdoors means that they have to be able to handle moisture. All outdoor fans have to be tested before they are sold to the public to ensure that they can handle the weather and being outside.

These types of fans are normally installed in places that are likely to be exposed to the different elements throughout certain times of the year, also in places that aren’t open to complete cooling and heating from a house. They were made to be strong and handle sudden changes in temperature and some of them can even handle days of rain.

The biggest difference there is between outdoor ceiling fans and normal indoor ones is the fact that outdoor fans are generally made from plastic or resin as they have to be able to deal with weather conditions, while indoor fans can be made from soft wood and other materials that can easily be damaged.

The Tommy Bahama Breezes fan model TB344AP is a model that features dark mahogany blades and a three speed pull chain. The blades come separately with the fan so you can design however you want to. The motor on this fan is the most powerful one ever made.

Minka Aire Gyro model F402-ORB is also one of the outdoor ceiling fans; this one is bronze in color and comes complete with a transmitter and function wall control. With twin turbofans, this fan produces rapid cool air circulation. Both the cages of the fan can be rotated to ninety degrees for your convenience.

The Fanimation Old Havana Ceiling Mount Fan model FA-FPH210AC has an antique copper fan motor. These fans are not only function, but they are also very stylish. With five airflow ratings, a 0.75 amp motor, and a non reversible airflow this fan will provide you with all the cool air you need.

Another one of the popular outdoor ceiling fans is the Emerson Maui Bay Model CF 2000WB. The great thing about this fan is that there is not only one type of blades that can be used, from tropical leaf blades to tear-proof sailcloth and hand woven wicker. This fan also has three speeds and reversible airflow.

Concord Boardwalk Ceiling Fan Model 52BW5AP is available in aged pecan and it comes in three speeds that are accessed via a pull chain. This fan may look good but it is also cost effective as it will save energy and it costs less to maintain. It comes with an adaptor so that it can be installed in low areas.

Outdoor ceiling fans would not be complete without the Minka Aire Concept Wet Ceiling Fan model F577ORB. This fan is a very popular one because the motor has been modified to make it more powerful and it also keeps away bugs.

The Monte Carlo Grand Isle Ceiling Fan Model 5GIR54RB is also an outdoor fan. This one comes complete with a transmitter, three different speeds, different dimming options and reverse airflow.

The amount of outdoor ceiling fans are virtually endless, every design and style is just about covered. There is an outdoor ceiling fan to suit every home!

Is Drop in Home Sales Good News?

Is Drop in Home Sales Good News? Only if you want to thrive!

“For all of you out there who accuse me of perpetual bearishness, here’s a twist: What if the drop in existing home sales in May is a good thing? Try to follow me on this: Everyone expected home sales to surge in May because this Realtor’s survey is based on closings in May from contracts signed in March and April. The May and June numbers should reflect the surge from the now-expired home buyer tax credit. Well today’s report showed a drop of 2.2 percent in existing home sales, leading us to believe that this last government stimulus really didn’t do the trick. So what if it didn’t? Last fall the tax credit really juiced the market, pulling demand forward, so that we saw a huge drop-off in the months following what we thought was the end of the credit, which was then of course extended and expanded.

So now we’re not seeing the same juice, but the numbers aren’t terrible either. Perhaps there was no big rush, so perhaps there will be no big drop-off. Here’s what we do know: (a) First-time homebuyers accounted for 46% of sales in May (49% in April) (b) Investors accounted for 14% of sales in May (15% in April) (c) All cash accounted for 25% of sales in May (26% in April). So first time buyers actually fell in numbers, but investors and all cash (which are often investors) remained pretty steady. Investors, at least for distressed properties, are what we need right now to soak up all the excess inventory. Don’t get me wrong, I’m pretty certain we’re going to see a drop-off in sales. A lot of sellers probably got caught up in the idea that the stimulus would create lasting recovery, and so decided to jump in. Tomorrow we get the report on sales of new construction in May. That report is based on contracts signed in May, not closings, so it will give us an idea of just how ba
d the post credit hangover will be.”

low profile 110v outlet box inside a cabinet

In a crafts room we wanted to install electrical power to an area that was going to be used as a printing station and required a 15 amp 110v plug for this usage. The best and closest area to leg power from was above the ceiling in the attic storage. With an existing single gang box there we ran some 14/2 romex down the wall and into a cabinet side. This needed only 2 holes drilled and the side of the melamine cabinet wall cut for a low profile single gang retro plastic cut-in box.after layout and some relief holes drilled we cut the cabinet wall 3/4" melamineOnce the wall of the 3/4″ melamine was marked then the Fein Multi Masterassisted in the finish plunge cut, the romex pulled through the box and the electrical outlet box was mounted on the wall, 2 men 2 hours of labor and approx. $35.00 us in materials. Important to note here will be to consult your local building codes for do’s and don’ts.pull the romex wire through and fasten outlet box to cabinet wall

Find Your Creative Outlet

home-decor_175Redesigning an entire room from the ground up can be as daunting as it is exhilarating. After you have done the heavy work and can put your electrical tools away, it is time to consider the interior decorations. Once a homeowner has settled on the general theme of a room, it comes time to add some complementary touches. Some of the smallest elements of a room can attract the most attention, especially when they are selected carefully.

For a room with white walls, it’s nice to spice up the décor with a few flourishes. Electrical outlet covers can add flair to a room’s functional necessities. When decorating a library or study, think about implementing some earth tones – something that connotes the comforting smell of books.

Rebuilding Haiti

It’s been 24 hrs since i have reached out to Mr Scott Kraft, a Los Angeles times media reporter. My message was very clear and to the point, in that i wish to donate 100% of the commission proceeds for 1 month, starting yesterday. I expect for him to publish our story and return my phone call and e-message tonight, we want to put a little pressure on all of our E-store affiliates IE., Sears.com/ Amazon.com and Home Depot.com, when they meet our challenge of charitable contributions and building supplies as well as energy efficient lighting fixtures and plumbing supplies.

The building codes are questionable at best but that will not stop the masses from any further advancements. We will build a better tomorrow for the people of Haiti and their families, that have suffered long enough. Our vision here at My-DIY.net is for a brighter future in all the world, pull soldiers from the middle east and put soldiers to work on an island that right now is far worse off than any war zone Mr Obama, let us help each other in this world and end the chaos today.rebuild starting with one brick

Stand tall you masses and understand how critical a place these Haitians are in at this very moment, tell a friend/coworker/family member about this action that requires all of us to rise above and shout ” WE CAN DO THIS”. Climb on board with that donation and help make a difference today.

Good evening world. As we can all sit back in the comfort of our homes tonight, there are many out there that have not been quite as fortunate. But my vision and beliefs are that we all can do something to aide those in need. I just left a message for Scott Kraft of the LosAngeles Times news paper, asking him to help circulate our story. Me here, on this world exposed blog, am offering 100% of the  affiliate marketing proceeds as a charitable contribution. All of the purchases staring at 7:30 pm pst will be going towards a lump sum dollar amount to the people in dire straights of Haiti. The catastrophic events of the 7.0 earthquake that tore down this place nearly 2 weeks ago has many children and their families literally upside down.haitian need helphaiti 2010 earthquakehaitian families in need

Any of us that want to help, can and will by using anyone of many E-stores via here on this blog site or at MY-DIY.net. When enough of us pitch in we are able to give back a little bit to help make a difference. From Home Depot / Amazon / Bestbuy / Commission Junction or Ebay all of which are my affiliates. I am also asking that everyone of those mentioned here and now stand up and meet us with our purchase power. If Home Depot / Amazon.com / Bestbuy.com / Commission Junction or Ebay.com can hear us roar, they will hear loud and clear that this is a challenge. That’s right, we are calling them to the mat for a no holds barred bout of matching the funds and or materials to donate.

Not only will this be of great service, the 2009 tax benefits can be of credit for all of our next filings on april 15. Lets create a better avenue of building services and appliances. I expect that Mr Kraft will help us with the broader publishing efforts involved but email this to as many friends as possible and lets start today by making a grander difference in this life.

Sincerely,

Gift Cards the perfect gift

As we all well know, tis the season, and trends have been evolving since the beginning of recorded time. Time well spent this holiday season is bringing up the efficacy level of finding the perfect gift. Whether it may be a coworker, friend, family member or that proverbial someone special.DIY gift card The ever increasing popular gift card trend has been growing stronger, as every holiday comes and goes. In all actuality the gift card is the most practical present given out because the recipient as well as the shopper truly gets want they really do want. An even amount of capital to shop and spend in their very own favorite places to buy want they really do desire or what they really do need. It may also be true that this gift card giving exchange has taken a little bit of that personal touch away from the gift of giving, but it all gets ironed out in the end and sure beats the heck out of standing in lines and mall parking lots. Hard to say sometimes though, because another new tie will always find the right time and place to be wrapped around that someones neck….

DIY Electrical stack switch

In DIY electrical often times in a bathroom, some of the pre 1970′s homes, an exhaust fan needs to be added for ventilation and comfort. While many of these rooms have a light switch in a tiled wall for instance, without creating a bigger job than necessary you won’t have to change the single gang switch box to obtain 2 switches in the one box.stack switch DIY energy efficient lighting The image here shows how to install 2 switches in 1 electrical box. When the home was constructed a hot wire leg went into a light switch and a switch leg goes up to the light fixture.

When you have located the new place for the exhaust fan and or the energy efficient light fixture. You will now bring another electrical wire into the switch box from the new fixtures electrical housing. The existing hot wire gives power to both switches on the new electrical stack switch. Powering one switch to your existing light fixture and also powering the second switch for the new exhaust fan or combo fan and energy efficient light fixture.
