How To Choose Kitchen Cabinets

Choosing kitchen cabinets doesn’t have to be confusing. With a little research on your part you’ll know what to ask for, what you want and need, and where to find it. All while saving the most money you possibly can.

First – Decide what you need, what you want, and what you can afford.kitchen cabinet remodel

  • What style are you looking for? Shaker, Country, Retro, Classic, New England, Cottage?
  • Are you open to suggestions and ideas?
  • Do you want wood, laminate, frame cabinets or frameless (Euro-style)?
  • What type of countertops are you going with? Laminate, solid surface, marble, granite, quartz, concrete, tile, glass?
  • Do you need an entirely new kitchen, just a bath vanity, or only a rollout fixed?
  • Do you need help with the entire process, which means you might need to hire or be your own contractor, or is your project small?
  • What is your budget? If you have $200 you can paint your cabinets for a fresh look or get new handles or knobs. If you have $5,000 or more you will be able to get an entirely new kitchen, depending on size. If you have $10,000 you might even begin thinking about remodeling (changing walls, plumbing, etc.). Kitchens really can run from a few thousand to several tens of thousands depending on where you live and what you want. You’ll pay much more for a kitchen in New England or Oregon than you will in Kentucky or Wisconsin.

Thinking about these questions will help get you going in the right direction.

Lets get creative and learn how to install replacement windowsreplacement window DIY dressingreplacement window trim ( reverse section) with a stool and apron on the inside, paint or stain grade diy window treatments that say “OH YEA” that is how we roll. After the windows in place you will have removed any existing treatment. Pick the moulding you’ll be using and some 3/4″ flat stock to cut and install for the stool, this little decorative shelve notches around the finish wall and goes beyond the casings, as well as hangs into the room about an inch past the front lower moulding. This is known as the apron, the stool separates the casing from the apron and sets flat on top of the stool. Take note to measure accurate and see where and what’s to take place. With the new moulding, cut some small tester pieces and mark the layouts so you can facilitate there spots. A miter saw and table saw will be of great help but a handsaw and a good angle square can do this as well, diy your new replacement windows before all the guest show this holiday season, and show off all you want…..good job again!!

Repair running Toilet

On a recent call to repair a running toilet the owner had said “all the sudden it’s like one day it would’nt shut off” so of coarse we went to have a look? After discovering everything was in order left side flush handleon the fairly new loo, the procedure went straight to flush. And flush after flush, on every third maneuver the handle stuck just enough to hold the flapper valve ajar to leech.

The tank has a square hole in which the handle protrudes and locks down on the inside with a plastic nut, the pivot points quarter turn and then return in waiting it’s next duty. This plastic assembly though is produced from a man made mold, and still had an over pour nub in just the right spot that caused it to not allow the proper return. Disassembled, with a sharp utility blade I shaved the nub a shaped the over pour in which disallow no more undo friction. Reassembled and tested several times aided by the visual inspection of a new efficient working order. Hey, things just happen, and the DIYer sometimes has to make them not happen.
