Copper/Galvenize metal electrolosis

Friday, December 30, 2011
posted by Craig

Electrolysis is an often misused term when applied to copper plumbing tubing. True electrolysis, or electrolytic corrosion, as it is more properly designated with regard to piping, is caused by an imposed (external) stray DC current and  happens when 2 or more different metals touch IE., copper and steel plumbing components. In many cases, it is also thought that grounding of a building’s electrical system to the copper piping can cause this phenomenon, but there is no statistical data to support this, nor is it recommended that the piping system be used as the main electrical ground for a building or dwelling.

Usually, what people are really referring to when they say electrolysis is galvanic or dissimilar metal corrosion. Galvanic corrosion is caused by self-induced current created by electrical potential of two dissimilar metals in contact with an electrolyte. It can occur when two dissimilar metals (such as copper tube and steel pipe) are connected in the presence of an electrolyte.

Stainless steel , Brass and Copper, all common metal piping materials and how they react to each other, it is rarely the copper tube that fails because of galvanic corrosion. Black steel and Galvanized steel when connected to the other metals above , will start an eating away by corrosion until sooner than later a leak in your plumbing pipes will occur. Do it right the first time!

Xypex diy waterproffing

How to waterproof a masonry blockwall , with a stucco finish painted, often the paint appears to create bubble pockets and destroy the visual surface. Retaining walls in yards have garden beds that require weekly watering and irrigation, but even when french drain systems are implemented, the concrete masonry block wall soak’s up and absorbs the moisture. As the moisture filters through the wall it is slowly breaking down causing water damage and destroying the integrity of the structural block wall. broken blockwall Xypex concentrate

Xypex crystaline Concentrate is designed to work as long as the is intact, we have used this process on either the positive or the negative side of painted block wall surfaces. For repairs of existing finishes, all the painted finish coat must get removed. Small jack hammer or pneumatic chisel, the paint and the finish float coat, as well as the brown coat gets demoed off. Any cracks or deteriorated openings need to be treaty and filled prior to the Xypex application. Hairline cracks won’t be affected, but any 1/8″ or larger cannot allow the Xypex formula to perform it’s magic.

Once the demolition process is complete, a slurry mix of Xypex concentrate can be sprayed or brushed on, the thicker the better. After curing is complete a finish stucco can be reapplied to desired appearance. If being painted again, the paint has to be breathable and not an elastomeric sealer or the like. Be sure to consult your local codes and read all instructions pertaining to products used.

Influencing the BPO

In a short sale transaction, the lender has to verify the negotiated price before the completion of any contract signing. Perhaps there is a lot of red tape to push through, but this one will make or break any offer you have submitted to the mortgage granter. So many of the lenders BPO agents are super swamped with daily lists of defaulted homes to review, that likely they are more than convinced a ” drive by” appraisal will suffice. helping families and bankers with a better understanding of a short sale transaction

Stay cool and play your hand right, because the ability to influence the BPO will behoove all parties involved. The owners need help out of a dire time, and you may have that trump card, that can enable a justifiable reduction in value to solve this economic environments foreseeable future. Learn more today.

Fix it Now

Whatever may be in disrepair around your home will eventually need quite a bit more attention as time elapses. Does your rain gutter hold water from 2 weeks ago when it last rained? As much as we would love to ignore this fact, what you may not realize that the nearest seam is breaking down and starting to leak, could be a small drip straight to the front porch or it might just be working its way through the fascia board and rotting away at the roof’s eave or a few rafter tails. Hence causing more dry rot and or concrete water damage than the earlier quick minor repair, sealing the rain gutter. Are you waiting too long to get to that leak?

Procrastination isn’t the name of the game if we really ever want to get anywhere folks, a buck ahead for that proverbial rainy day and or as Napoleon Hill once wrote “money conscious or poverty conscious” which way is your mind taking you? Another marketing genius and extremely successful self made entrepreneur, is Jeffrey Combs and his whole mantra is about already being instead of waiting to be, it all begins at that perception of ” somethings else that needs to be done as a home improvement project” when it should be thought of as ” protecting the biggest investment in your portfolio”. See you at the new rich extravaganza !!

Rain Gutter dilemma’s

Average homeowners throughout this world can now relax and need not to fret any longer about their rain gutters. With the expansive widths of the average fronts of our homes, my experience here lies in the fact that rain gutters cannot perform as designed. no push causing malice [mosquitos/ dryrot / water damage]

Water has to have a 1/4″ per foot slope to jettison the moisture to the down spout at the end, and not a sole likes to see a highly noticeable crooked rain gutter attached to the front of their homes. It appears wrong and anti symmetrical, common fascia board widths consist of 4″ to 12″ heights while, after installation causing a loss in fascia profiles when buried by drip edge flashing and shingle overhangs accentuating this dilemma.

I’m launching an all new and improved rain gutter marketing campaign that will easily and virtually correct and eliminate all of these aforementioned appearance and functionality problems. Take this opportunity now and tell me your stories of and why this may inexpensively be of service.rain gutter over flowing?Napoleon Hill, Charles Hannel, Henry Ford, Tim Ferriss etc., all these great men that have changed many lives and authored books on self development, championed the fine art of mastermind groups to create change for all as well as a way to wealth through the laws of nature. “success requires no explanations, failure permits no alibis”

Avoiding water Damage

The incredible thing about water and the world is there can be nothing in existence without it. Perhaps all my readers certainly understand this concept, unlike when traping water and the damage it will surely cause over any amount of time. The average home annual upkeep is approximately $2,100 U.S. with weekly or monthly service accounts included. The longer that i have facilitated products and fabrication of home repairs / home maintenance /  remodels  / and additions etc., the further my conclusions have generated the simple fact that water needs an out. As this element evaporates and emits the gases needed while drying, my team and i have seen it move 1000′s of pounds of cement, hardwood flooring, and stucco IE., to completely disintegrate and destroy almost any type of building material[s].retaining wall french drain [A WATER CAN GET OUT SYSTEM]

The image here will allow the reader a little insight to this building to avoid water damage idea, this is a 4″ french drain designed to catch normal water runoff and push it to the downhill side of the 8″ block retaining wall, it is actually sitting atop the highest part of the lower footing [ not dirt ] and will filter through and out to the natural grade.

Home Improvements Dry-Rot

Water damaged wood is called DRY ROT , but what is this really, well this only happens when a porous piece of wood IE., lumber, timber, posts , siding or fascia board, all of these typically are an exterior specific wooden used product or term. The word DRY comes from the constant wetness or moisture has taken its toll on the wood and often as the moisture exposed wood dries out in between wetting it ROTS, and proceeds to further rotting as it takes on wetness repeatedly. The aspect of  home improvements for all of us is, allowing the wetting to stop (sprinklers) or build and or fabricate for potential uncontrolled wet atmospheres (RAIN).

** exterior siding water damage: hose bib is too short and problem of dripping but did not drip past the face of the wood siding , therefor causing water damage.

*** wooden deck: potential slope problem or often a poor deck material that has fail over time from constant standing water.

Diy dryrot water damage

It’s an age old symptom of many of our homes to get dryrot water damage, IE, when anything in your home is getting excessively water or wet during inclimate weather over any period of time you will end up with dryrot water damage. A quick and simple inspection during watering times via your sprinklers or when it is raining, take a walk through and watch how the water is running and getting into rain gutters and off you roofs for example. If your grass watering is actually watering the house more than necessary, just about all species of wood will end up looking like this dryrot water damage image here.Dryrot wood damage

The DIY exterior repair at your homes as of today is to alter and or tone down those watering habits! Getting only wet, what should be growing and not getting wet everything else. To avoid dryrot water damage, start at your yards and patios and when building that next outdoor project take in mind that every square inch of space requires some kind of slope as to push moisture off and down into the drains!

Diy home repairs

Our mantra here is correct the problem before it creates an even bigger problem. Although not all diy home repairs have to be a problematic source the term repair indicates that something is in disrepair and requiring our attention. Lets go straight to water damage for instance, anything that does not need wetting, over a period of time will begin to fail and proceed to more area or other adjoining things will then begin to fail as well. Something as basic as a gate in the yard lets say. If and when the weekly yard watering system or sprinklers gets that gate wet every other day then sooner or later that darn gate just wont open and close as it used toDIY home repair on your gate, a few more weeks pass and the darn gate seems as if it’s pulled the anchor sleeve out of the wall and loking a little closer the stone in the wall is loose! Darn gate you say and when you touch the stone it falls to the other side of the yard and takes the anchor with it…. well exactly our point one thing creates another or the cause and effect theory no doubt. But had the sprinkler head been correctly adjusted the gate would not have been watered and start swelling, rotting and sagging hence pulling unnecessary and breaking the stone wall to cause a 2 day diy home repair instead of a 5 minute adjustment for a better effect.
